TOELF iBT and TOEIC Bridge Commencement Ceremony for 529 learners (24-07-2010)

529 VUS STUDENTS RECEIVE TOEFL iBT & TOEIC Bridge CERTIFICATES

Early on July 25^th, 2010, at the Rex Hotel, 141 Nguyen Hue Street, District 1, HCMC, the Vietnam-USA Society English Center solemnly held a certificate presentation ceremony to honor 529 TOEFL iBT and TOEIC Bridge students from the school system. Among those, 115 students received TOEFL iBT certificates for the 19th course and 414 students received TOEIC Bridge certificates.

In both of the last TOEFL iBT and TOEIC Bridge tests, VUS students achieved very high scores. Many students had achieved a TOEFL iBT score of 100/120. For example, Dao Quoc Cuong scored 102/120 on the TOEFL iBT. The TOEIC Bridge test stood out as well, among the 414 certificate awardees, 12 scored 174/180. Tat Hoai Manh and Nguyen Hoang Hiep both got the excellent score of 178/180.

While the test is required by most colleges and universities in the US, the average TOEFL iBT score is about 60, the average score of VUS students is higher than 70/120. With such significant and encouraging results, VUS students will have a lot of opportunities to study abroad or continue their studies at universities, colleges and junior colleges in English-speaking countries worldwide.

Currently, TOEFL iBT and TOEIC Bridge certificates have become an international standard in assessing English competency and the key to access the world’s knowledge. In 2003, VUS was the first school system to introduce TOEIC Bridge to young students in Vietnam. The TOEIC Bridge is one of the most prestigious tests provided by ETS. In 2006, VUS continued to apply the TOEFL iBT program to its curriculum when the program was only six months old in the US. So far, VUS has created conditions for tens of thousands of students to achieve this international certificate. In particular, many VUS students have achieved the highest or close to the highest scores such as Nguyen Ha Nguyen Anh TOEIC Bridge 180/180, Nguyen Hang Phuong Dung TOEFL iBT 114/120, Dam Huy Phat TOEFL iBT 108/120, Au Duong Tri TOEIC 960/990 and Do Trong Thanh TOEFL 670/677.
