On December 21, Thanh Nien Newspaper, in collaboration with VUS and Informatics Center at University of Sciences, awarded Nguyen Thai Binh Scholarships to students who achieved the highest results of the university/college entrance exams and currently enroll in universities or colleges that participated in the “Exam Consultancy 2006” program. 361 scholarships of 1,7 billion VND in total value were given to support the top freshmen in their academic path. This is the third consecutive year in which VUS offers support to students through the Nguyen Thai Binh Scholarship program organized by Thanh Nien Newspaper. The award ceremony was formally held at the City’s Grand Theatre.

This year, VUS gave 52 full-tuition scholarships (total 1 billion VND) for departments’ top freshmen. Each scholarship of 20 million VND will help the students join English courses to participate in TOEIC at any of VUS’s 6 branches.

As actual evidence has proven over the years, scholarships awarded by VUS have always been a great support to the freshmen in pursuing their dreams and ambitions academically as well as provided them with solid English skills to prepare for their future professional careers. Addressing the students, Mr Pham Tan Nghia (Member of VUS Central Committee, Chairman – Director of VUS) stated that awarding students with full-tuition scholarships is “our way to practically contribute in increasing the quality of human resources in Vietnam. Especially since now that Vietnam is a member of WTO, it is these well-trained and qualified professionals that will give an amazing push to the development of Vietnam.

At the award ceremony, VUS and Informatics Centre also received honor medals from Mr Nguyen Cong Khe, Deputy Chairman of Vietnam Youth’s Union and Editor-in-Chief of Thanh Nien Newspaper, for their enthusiastic participation and support for the students during the years.
