‘Photography Camp’ at Vuon Xoai, was a summer camp included in the program ‘Summer Camp 2010’ of the Vietnam USA Society system organized specifically for learners from 9 to 12 years old. This adventure-filled summer camp not only provided learners with insight and hands-on activities to help them improve their photographic talent, but also trained learners to work in groups.

In the large area, among the numerous green trees, many young learners satisfactorily discovered many thrilling games. Firstly, each group participated in discovering mysterious treasure while on bicycles. Conquering many obstacles, learners had to use their brains to crack the codes of the clues. Hoai Anh, a member of a winning team said: ‘It is wonderful to join with friends to overcome many obstacles and achieve success. We learned how to work in a team, shared our knowledge and we tried especially to use our English to solve all the quizzes.’ On the way, learners also enjoyed swimming to the fullest, and participated in a grass sledding game.

The highlight of the camp came when many famous photographers shared secrets of how to capture beautiful pictures. Hong Minh, a student of Vietnam USA Society – 218 Nguyen Trai, said vividly: ‘Now I know more about photography, how to feel and adjust the camera to find the best angle to capture beautiful pictures.’ After that, young learners, along with famous photographers, practiced the skills they had just learned. Everyone was eager to participate in ‘hunting’ at Vuon Xoai. The students who produced the most attractive and meaningful photographs received lovely gifts from the camp organizers.

All learners were happy at the end of the trip. They were happy because they had a wonderful summer holiday, happy because they had made more friends, and happiest because they had learned more new things.  Each of them felt more grown-up.
