VUS and CUNY University sign TOEFL iBT Certificates (22-07-2010)

On the 22^nd of July 2010, at the VUS office, VUS and its training partner CUNY signed 115 TOEFL iBT certificates for VUS graduates in the 19^th VUS graduation ceremony.

VUS is the first and only English training center in Vietnam to have a cooperation agreement with the City University of New York (CUNY), the third biggest public university in the US with 23 member schools and more than 450,000 students. VUS students receive degrees that are recognized by most international universities. Especially, with the cooperation with CUNY, VUS has the opportunity to update methodologies and to provide opportunities for its teachers to develop professionally and to enhance their teaching performance.

According to the agreement, CUNY pays regular visits to VUS during the year. On the recent visit, CUNY delegates included professors and doctors who came to attend the degree signing ceremony and award presentation ceremony for 529 VUS students passing TOEFL iBT and TOEEC Bridge. They also attended the TESOL conference where they presented papers and shared teaching experience and methodology with VUS teachers.

At present, more than 5,000 universities, colleges and institutes in the world use TOEFL iBT as a criteria in assessing applications to study or to get a scholarship. Also, millions of people sit the TOEFL iBT test every year. In 2006, VUS was the first center to introduce the TOEFL iBT to Vietnam, only 6 months after the test was organized in the US. Since then, VUS has given opportunities for thousands of people to take this test. Many of VUS students have scored very high (nearly 100%) in the test such as Nguyen Hang Phuong Dung 114/120 or Dam Huy Phat 108/120, etc.
