Exuberant Full Moon Festival (20-09-2010)

On September 18th and 19th, 2010, Vietnam-USA Society English Centers system held a Moon Festival for young learners at Starters and Movers levels.

The Moon Festival welcomed the surprising appearance of artiste Dinh Toan (in the role of the Moon Boy) and Helen (in the role of the Moon Lady) to bless the festival with more fun and joy. All children attending the program were dressed like the Moon Boy with a bandana and cute bunny ears.

Thanh Thao, a student at 72bis Vo Thi Sau Campus, showed up with the outstanding rabbit ears saying: "It's like we’re at the festival on the Moon. It’s great and we wish the Moon Festival went on forever ".

The young students participated in folk games with the Moon Lady and learned English vocabulary on the subject of the mid-autumn festival. The participants answered the Moon Lady’s questions confidently and got nice gifts from the organizers.

In particular, the Moon Festival offered the kids opportunities to have fun with artiste Dinh Toan, who is always very much loved by the children. 8-year-old Hoang Nam, said smiling: "Before I only saw Mr. Dinh Toan on TV. Thanks to the Moon Fesival, today I have the chance to meet, chat and shake hands with him. I'm very happy".

The Moon Festival also drew the attention of the young participants to the group games contest. Each team decorated lanterns together using their own ideas, and the most creative lanterns won encouraging prizes. The teams had opportunities to try dragon dance performances with the Earth God. The organizers also selected the most impressive dance to give awards to.

And the most important part of the Moon Festival was the party. The participants enjoyed a small buffet and chatted with new friends.

Not only was the Moon Festival a lantern parade to welcome autumn and improve English skills, but it was also a playground for the children to show their understanding and confidence in front of their peers and to make new friends.
