VUS – Invest in facilities to provide the best learning environment (01-10-2010)

With more than 10 campuses across Ho Chi Minh City, VUS has an annual plan to upgrade its facilities to provide its students with an international-standard English learning environment.

Create an active and professional environment

Any new student entering a VUS campus will have a comfortable feeling which enables them to start their learning journey with confidence. All classrooms are designed to provide students with a modern, comfortable and spacious area so that they can have a positive learning experience.

Classroom design also aims to cater to the needs of different levels and age groups of students. For example, children will learn in rooms with colorful and fun decorations. Adult learners will spend their class time in a professional space which is similar to a working environment in multinational companies. Specifically, from 15/9/2010, VUS teachers start to use digital lesson plans in EIC and Superior classes to help students acquire knowledge and skills in the most effective way.

Thanks to its commitment to facilities development, VUS has been successful in introducing the latest teaching methodologies to Vietnam. VUS students learn through reading books and newspapers, acting, giving presentations and working in groups with the assistance of audio-visual technology. Such an approach helps students to perfect the four skills (listening, speaking, reading, and writing), to develop vocabulary in various areas, and to practice pronunciation and presentation skills in order to be able to integrate into the international learning and working environment.

Besides a major investment in classroom design, VUS also sets up computer labs and libraries in all campuses with recent publications to facilitate students’ self learning in order to encourage great achievement in a short time.

It’s also worth noting that VUS’ small class size (about 20 students / class) allows teachers to interact with learners and monitor every student’s progress closely. VUS currently has more than 700 qualified foreign and Vietnamese teaching staff (among them are nearly 200 Masters and Doctoral degree holders). VUS’s professionalism is shown by the establishment of departments such as Academic Research and Training Quality Management. Academic administration staff are always available to assist teachers and to organize teacher training programs to update the latest methodologies from the international community

VUS also has an Events team that organizes extra-curricular activities, certificate presentation ceremonies and English clubs. The team also helps show students how to make use of available facilities in the most effective way.

Help students develop the most of their potential

Thanks to a sound understanding of students’ needs and substantial investment in modern and professional facilities, VUS is proud to have lots of students to get high scores in international tests such as TOEFL and TOEIC. Among them are Nguyen Hang Phuong Dung (114/120 TOEFL iBT), the youngest Vietnamese to make such an achievement; Dam Huy Phat (108/120 TOEFL iBT); Nguyen Ha Nguyen Anh (180/180 TOEIC Bridge); and many others.

VUS campuses such as 189 Nguyen Thi Minh Khai (District 1), 218 Nguyen Trai (District 5), 135 An Duong Vuong (District 5) and 215 Nam Ky Khoi Nghia have become a popular destination for students who want to improve their English skills. State-of-the-art facilities and learning environments are among the factors that help VUS to be the first English language training center in the country to be awarded the Prime Minister’s Certificate for Excellence in English language training.
