Cambridge Flyers Certificates to be awarded to 371 VUS students (14-12-2010)

On December 12^th, 2010, VUS organized an Award Presentation Ceremony at the Opera House to grant Cambridge Flyers certificates to 371 young students. It is worth mentioning that there were 29 students who received the highest possible score of 15 Shields on the recent test.

Doan Nguyen Quynh Huong, VUS student at 72 Bis Vo Thi Sau Street campus, excitedly shared with us: “I enjoy every lesson at VUS. What I like best about the program is that I can study new words by means of beautiful pictures and can practice listening and speaking skills with native English-speaking teachers. I can understand the lesson very quickly. I was quite confident during the test and I received a top score.”

Attending the certificate presentation with her daughter Thao Quyen, Ms Nguyen Ngoc Tung couldn’t hide the happiness and pride she has for Quyen. She said: “Quyen has just studied English at VUS for two courses and she has made impressive progress. She got the highest possible score in the Flyers test. I’m really happy with her achievements. Thanks to her good performance in English, she has the confidence in and excitement for studying other subjects at school. I’d like to thank VUS teachers for their dedication to my daughter.”

Nothing can be compared to the happiness of seeing our children dressed up in graduation gowns and receive the first international certificate of their life – Cambridge Flyers. The children themselves have also proved their confidence, knowledge and maturity. Upon finishing the Flyers program, students are qualified to attend higher level programs such as TOEIC Bridge, TOEIC, TOEFL iBT or IELTS at VUS. Students can also attend high school English programs to apply for a Cultural Exchange Scholarship to study in the US or to apply directly to high schools in the UK, US, Australia, Canada and New Zealand. Therefore getting an international certificate such as Cambridge Flyers is really a good start for the children.

Cambridge Flyers test is internationally recognized and designed using a framework similar to that of the adult tests from Cambridge University. It is, however, more attractive in that there are colorful illustrations and topics familiar to and suitable for children from 6-12 years old. A Cambridge Flyers certificate helps identify the English level of each student in all four skills (listening, speaking, reading and writing).

According to statistics from Cambridge University Testing Center, VUS students’ average score in Cambridge tests are 30% higher than that of students in the region and the world. This is really a great achievement for VUS students and opens many doors for them in the future. VUS has been the pioneer in introducing the Cambridge program in Vietnam and has facilitated tens of thousands of children to receive the Cambridge Flyers certificate from Cambridge University.
