24 students get top scores in Cambridge Flyers test (08-11-2011)

On the 6^th of November, 2011, VUS organized a Cambridge Flyers certificate presentation ceremony for 415 VUS students at HCMC Opera House. The most exciting thing about this even was there were 24 students that received the top score of 15 Shields on the recent test.

Since 2000, VUS has been a pioneer in introducing the Cambridge Flyers test to its young students and enabling them to get this prestigious international certificate. The Cambridge Flyers test is internationally recognized and designed using a standard similar to that of Cambridge University’s adult tests. It is, however, more attractive in that there are colorful illustrations and topics familiar to and suitable for children from 6-12 years old.

In his speech at the ceremony, Mr. Dinh Thai Long, VUS President, said: “The Cambridge Flyers certificate helps identify the English level of each student in all four skills (listening, speaking, reading and writing). These students have proved themselves to be smart and outstanding in getting this certificate. This is also a really good start for them.”

According to statistics from the Cambridge University Testing Center, VUS students’ average score in Cambridge tests are 30% higher than that of other students in the region and throughout the world. This is a high achievement for VUS students and opens many doors for them in the future. Upon finishing the Flyers program, students are qualified to attend higher level programs such as TOEIC Bridge, TOEIC and TOEFL iBT. Students can also attend high school English programs to apply for a Cultural Exchange Scholarship to study in the US or to apply directly to high schools in the UK, US, Australia, Canada and New Zealand.
