On 14 March 2010, VUS organized an Award Presentation Ceremony at the Opera House to grant Cambridge Flyers certificates to 329 young students. In recent tests, VUS students average score was 11.3/15, which is higher than that of previous tests. Twenty four students obtained a top score of 15 Shields.
Cambridge Flyers, which is recognized by 135 countries in the world, is an international English certificate awarded to children from six to 12 years old. There are three levels: Starters, Movers and Flyers. This certificate helps students become aware of their level of proficiency in all four skills (listening, speaking, reading and writing). Getting a Flyers certificate is a very good start for children.
According to statistics from the Cambridge University Testing Center, VUS students score an average of 30% higher than students in the region and around the world. This is really a great achievement for VUS students and opens many doors for them in the future. Upon finishing the Flyers program, students are qualified to attend higher level programs such as Young Leaders, TOEIC Bridge, TOEIC and TOEFL iBT. Students can also attend high school English programs and apply for Cultural Exchange Scholarships to study in the US. Or they can apply directly to high schools in the UK, US, Australia, Canada and New Zealand.
