First Annual TESOL Conference

For the first time in Vietnam, a specialized English Teaching Workshop with the participation of international experts was held by VUS in coordination with TEFL International in HCMC on July 22, 2006.

More than 200 English teachers and educational administrators from universities and English language centers in Ho Chi Minh City and nearby provinces attended the workshop. The keynote speaker was Prof. Dr. Alan Maley (adviser of Oxford University Press). The speakers presented a discussion of issues related to teaching English including methods for teaching creative reading and writing and effective coordination of new skills in using dictionaries.

Ms. Nguyen Thi Thu Loan - National University lecturer said: "The success of Prof. Dr. Alan Maley is to make all teachers, lecturers and participants feel really excited about writing, a subject that is not easy to attract the attention of students." This was also the success of the conference organizers. Thereby, English teachers and lecturers had the opportunity to access the advanced teaching methods in the world, helping them to work effectively.
