In the process of globalization, it is critical for foreign language teaching and learning activities to reach international standards in skills assessment, knowledge development and language competence. To achieve this goal, VUS has focused on cooperation activities with local and international institutions. VUS has initiated various professional cooperation programs to develop the Vietnamese workforce and to raise Vietnam’s profile in the region and all over the world.

Since 2008, the Integration Scholarship Program has provided support to more than 10,000 students of Saigon College of Culture, Arts and Tourism, and Ho Chi Minh City Law University to improve their English skills. The program’s curriculum is a combination of VUS English for International Communication (EIC) program and Vietnamese college and university English training requirements set up by the Ministry of Education and Training. It is expected that students will score 450 in the TOEIC test when finishing this program. Scholarship students will study English right at their schools and have to pay only 50% of what people usually pay when attending the course taught at VUS campuses. All Ho Chi Minh City college and university students are eligible to apply for this scholarship.

To show its corporate social responsibility commitment, VUS is an active donor to several scholarship programs including the Nguyen Thai Binh Scholarship fund, the VUS-CUNY scholarship fund, the Scholarship program of Ho Chi Minh City Party Committee and the Integration Scholarship program.

Scholarship program of Ho Chi Minh City Party Committee

VUS is known as a prestigious English language center and a strategic partner of the HCMC Party Committee in training English for the city’s leaders and managers. Successful applicants of the city’s scholarship program go on to train to as masters and doctors of their discipline.

Every year, more than 200 staff from the HCMC Party Committee receive English training and get international English certificates such as TOEIC, TOEFL and iBT. VUS also offers full and half scholarships worth from hundreds of million to several billions of Vietnam Dong for the Party Committee’s staff. Some half scholarships provide opportunities for them to study in Singapore for three months. Upon finishing the course in Singapore, they will return to Vietnam to continue their study at VUS.

Nguyen Thai Binh – VUS Scholarship: This ongoing scholarship program is a confirmation of VUS’s corporate social responsibilities. Every year, VUS contributes more than one billion Vietnam Dong to the Nguyen Thai Binh scholarship fund organized by Thanh Nien newspaper.

Scholarships are presented to underprivileged students who have good academic performance, as well as to the top two students in the university entrance exams. The scholarships are a great source of support to encourage students to continue to work hard and to provide them with more educational opportunities to build a strong foundation for their career success later. Since 2004, VUS has contributed nearly seven billion Vietnam Dong and granted more than 500 scholarships.

VUS – CUNY scholarship: As a partner of the City University of New York (CUNY), VUS established the “VUS-CUNY” Scholarship program in 2009 to give support in English training for Vietnamese people.  The total value offered every year is worth up to two billion Vietnam Dong.
