Having academic agreements with prestigious educational institutions in the world is an inevitable trend in the current integration process. The role of international cooperation in enhancing teaching and learning quality has been widely acknowledged. During its first several years of establishment, VUS succeeded in convincing the City University of New York (CUNY), a leading public university in the US, to establish cooperative programs between the two organisations.

According to the agreement, CUNY will provide consultancy  and accreditation to VUS textbooks, assist VUS in the recruitment process and teacher training, support VUS in implementing the latest methodologies and technologies to ensure teaching quality and graduates’ outcome. Training workshops for VUS teachers which are conducted by CUNY professors will be organized regularly.

The City University of New York (CUNY) is the third largest public university in the US. CUNY currently has 23 schools with more than 450,000 students. Established in 1847, CUNY is the oldest public university in New York city and is considered the giant of knowledge with nearly 1,400 academic programs. CUNY has more than 30 libraries with more than 7.5 million books, more than 30,000 journals and thousands of DVDs, CDs, movies, slides, notes and other materials.

CUNY’s reputation is further confirmed by the fact that 12 Nobel prize winners, including ten scientists and two economists, did their study at CUNY. Many CUNY graduates have become well known senators, businessmen, investors, writers, composers and actors. Latest statistics show that 88% of CUNY graduates get a job within six months of graduation, 90% of which hold good positions in New York City, the world’s financial, commercial, political, entertainment and cultural center.

According to its strategic development plan, VUS continues to establish cooperative programs with prestigious foreign and Vietnamese universities and brings itself to new heights in order to confirm its commitment as a prestigious English training center.
