TOEFL iBT (Test Of English As A Foreign Language - Internet - Based Test) is designed for students who want to study abroad in English speaking countries such as the US and Canada. Students will develop academic English skills to have good preparation for the test. The course will improve students’ general understanding of English, analyzing skills and test taking skills to gain the best results in the test.
Students will work on sample tests which are organized in a lab similar to the real exam room. Students are required to spend 50 hours on self studying, including using CD-ROMs to practice English skills. Teachers will assess students’ self studying progress and provide advice and guidance in a timely manner.
In addition to learning how to perfect their listening, speaking, reading and writing skills, students will also study grammar and improve their vocabulary to do the test successfully. Students have opportunities to familiarize themselves with the test format and requirements through homework and sample tests in order to help their confidence when taking the test.
TOEFL iBT program at VUS is designed for students at all levels of proficiency. To help students succeed in the “integration task” of the TOEFL exam, the course provides students with many opportunities to practice on a computer and to do online sample tests which can determine a student’s level quite precisely.
During the course, students will get useful advice about test taking strategies. The course also focuses on improving students’ pronunciation to help their confidence in the speaking test.
Students will practice working on various sample tests developed by ETS, Cambridge, Thomson and Longman which are available in TOEFL iBT computer lab to enhance their test taking experience.
